Applewood Hockey Association History

Applewood Hockey Associations logo through timeApplewood Hockey Association was established in 1988-89, with the amalgamation of Cawthra Park (est. 1977) and Dixie (est. 1949) Hockey Associations. Applewood merged the blue & white of Cawthra with the yellow (gold) of Dixie, to make our Association’s colours. Our home arena is Chic Murray in the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre located near Dixie Rd. and Burnamthorpe Rd in Mississauga, Ontario.

We are proud to be one of the six associations that make up the Mississauga Hockey League, with each association representing a different part of our vibrant city.

Throughout the years, Applewood Hockey has been fortunate to have won many MHL, City, Provincial, and Tournament Championships. The championship trophies and other memorabilia are on display in our trophy case at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre.

The key to Applewood Hockey’s success is that it is run by exceptional volunteers that make hockey fun for the 500 boys and girls that register with us every year. Whether it’s coaching a team, running an event, or putting hours in behind the scenes, it’s all done to ensure each player has a memorable season with us.
